As KDVR reported, restoration began in 2010, with the State Legislature appropriating $17 million for the four year project.

The rest of the money came from other sources including grants, sponsors and other donations through a campaign called Share in the Care Colorado, raising about $200,000.

Department of Personnel & Administration spokeswoman Sabrina D’Agosta said the gilders during the next week will be touching up the gold on the dome where scaffolding was used.

The amount of gold on the dome weighs 65 ounces.

So take our poll, do you think that $17 million could have been used in other ways, or was the use on the capitol justified?
