We've all been focused on Christmas over the last few weeks, that we tend to forget that there is another big celebration on the way. New Years Eve of course!

Throughout the state of Colorado, and in our very own backyard, we have many opportunities to be able to ring in 2017 in a very safe way while still being able to celebrate to the best of our ability.

If you didn't realize the possibilities that are throughout the state when it comes to December 31st, you have missed out on many chances to be with friends and even people you don't know to let the festive side of you stand out.

Looking for something to do on the big night? Here are five New Years Eve celebrations in the state of Colorado that we think you need to explore for yourself, you and your friends, or your entire family.

Enjoy...celebrate...but do it safely so 2017 welcomes you in with open arms!

    First Night Fort Collins

The event in downtown Fort Collins kicks off at 5:30 on December 31st, and is very family friendly no matter the ages you bring with you. Plus, the event is free and open to entire public, which makes it even better! The night will culminate with fireworks at 10 P.M., so make sure you get as much rest leading into it so you can enjoy what Fort Collins has to offer!

Electric Safari at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

You could always get a hotel room in the Colorado Springs region for the night of the 31st, and take the entire family to the awesome Cheyenne Mountain Zoo for their Electric Safari! The event has been going on all throughout the month of December, but New Years weekend is the last time you'll be able to see it for the season. They have over 50 acres of lights and 85 light sculptures for everyone to see. Make sure you get there before the last admission is sold at 7:30!

New Year's Eve Torchlight Parade and Fireworks

Want to head to the mountains for New Years Eve? I suggest heading to Snowmass for what is truly one of the best celebrations in all of America. What's one of the best parts of it is that Snowmass wants everyone to participate, with kids allowed who are over the age of eight years old. The evening wraps up with fireworks at the end of the night, under the stars that glow in the fresh 2017 sky!
