National Volunteer Month Celebrating People in Action United Way of Larimer County’s Volunteer Center is encouraging the community to help them find volunteers or group of volunteers who go above and beyond in Larimer County for National Volunteer Month in April. National Volunteer Month stems from National Volunteer Week that was started by former President Nixon in 1974. This year, the Volunteer Center is asking the community to submit stories about extraordinary volunteers in Larimer County. All stories will be reviewed and selected entries will qualify for the volunteer appreciation awards and other public recognition. Volunteers themselves are also encouraged to narrate their own stories for submission. Anyone interested in submitting an extraordinary volunteer story can go to www.uwaylc.org. Submissions are due no later than Wednesday, March 31, 2010. In addition to Celebrating People in Action, National Volunteer Month offers many volunteer opportunities and events in the community.
