  • Multiple structures were affected by flooding and tornado activity SW of Berthoud and along the Little Thompson River last night due to severe weather and further severe weather is expected again this afternoon.
  •  Road Closures exist throughout the damage area due to safety concerns from power/gas lines, flooding and debris. These closures will be opened as soon as it is safe to enter the area. Approximately 100 people are still without power but crews are in the area working to resolve any power outages.
  • Search and Rescue and damage assessments continue this morning. If residents have damages due to storms last night, please contact either 2-1-1 by phone until 5pm today, or go to the Assessor’s Office website. Additionally, the American Red Cross is activated for Client Work. The Red Cross can assist with the assessment of personal needs and referrals to programs and can be reached at (303) 235-6636. A Berthoud Disaster Fund has been established at HelpColoradoNow.org.
  • The Evacuation Center remains open at the Berthoud Community Center at 248 Welch Avenue, Berthoud.

Two tornadoes touched down near Berthoud last night destroying three homes and damaging at least 12 structures. The twisters hit the 2500 block of Blue Mountain Avenue in unincorporated Larimer County just southwest of the Town of Berthoud.

According to a press release from the Larimer County Sheriff's Department, Larimer County Road 2 and Weld County Road 3 were closed due to flooding. Hundreds of power outages were also reported.

A shelter was opened by the American Red Cross at the Berthoud Community Center in the Town of Berthoud. No injuries were reported and no people were reported missing.
