I wrote a story last year about 'Boots On The Ground' that I came across by accident. is one of those things you are grateful that exists, but you wish it didn't, and you especially don't want to see it come to your hometown, but glad it will.

Boots on the Ground is a group here in Colorado that honor the fallen soldiers in our state that were killed in Iraq each year on the anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.

This year event will be held at Civic Center Park in Denver on 20 March. To honor Colorado's fallen heroes, 68 pairs of boots, representing the 68 soldiers Killed In Action from here in Colorado, will once again be displayed.

In addition this year, the group will also be honoring Colorado Armed Force members who were Killed In Action in Afghanistan.

In fact, Colorado is the ONLY state that does something like this!

The 70 hour vigil will begin on Friday, 20 March starting at 12:00 a.m. and runs through Sunday, 22 March at 10:00 p.m. Each of the 68 soldiers killed in Iraq will be honored in alphabetical order one hour at a time on their Facebook Page.

The 69th hour honors all those who were killed in action from other wars, conflicts and the 70th hour will honor all the Military Dogs from Colorado Killed In Action.
