Champ Bailey Officially Moves on From Denver, Signs with the New Orleans Saints

When the Denver Broncos released Champ Bailey earlier this off-season it was probably unrealistic, but fans like me still held hope that he would either retire as a Bronco or never get picked up by another team, and convince John Elway to have him back. Those thoughts were officially squashed today as Bailey signed a deal to become a member of the New Orleans Saints. 

The deal is worth as much as $7 million, and he will compete with Keenan Lewis for the starting cornerback job, according to ESPN.

Bailey had been a Bronco since a trade with Washington sent him here for Clinton Portis back in 2004. And although his level of play had slipped over the last few years as he has aged to 35-years-old, his 12 career Pro Bowl selections trail only Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive end Reggie White (13) among defensive players in NFL history and tie for the sixth most overall.
