The City of Greeley Parks Division has removed old playground equipment located at the future site of Aven’s Village at Island Grove Regional Park.

Once the snow melts, they will begin removing existing pea gravel for grade preparation and concrete work.

The new playground will be wheelchair accessible and will replace the removed structures which were over twenty years old. An official groundbreaking for Aven’s Village is anticipated for early spring.

Aside from having a goal of being universally accessible, the playground represents American West and Native American themes that give a nod to the historical significance of Island Grove Regional Park.  A trading fort, tee pees, buffalo, pottery, and river representations will be incorporated throughout the playground.
