While many of us in Colorado are enjoying the unusually warm weather we have experienced for the most part this Winter, it's having an effect on Colorado ski areas as they get closer to the end of their seasons. The latest mountain to have to change their plans for the season due to the weather is Powderhorn Mountain Resort, which is located 20 miles east of Grand Junction.

According to 7News Denver, the Powderhorn Strider Snow Cup and Powderhorn Pond Skim events will be held this weekend. The resort is also unsure if they will be able to make it to their original closing day of March 29th.

Beginning Monday, the resort will only be open on a "Day to Day" basis due to the warm weather however the return of possible Winter weather next week could bring welcome relief to not only Powderhorn but many of the ski areas in the state. It looks like a cool down next week could bring snow to the mountains with highs possibly only in the 30's in the Plains for Thursday.
