There are 118 elements on the periodic table of elements. No, I didn't remember that from science class, I actually had to Google how many there were. I can't remember stuff like that for some odd reason. Maybe because it doesn't play into my everyday life... Who knows. But back to the subject at hand. There are a lot of elements on that table and there are a lot of elements right here in our state of Colorado. In fact, there are quite a few towns here in our state that are named after elements on the periodic table of elements. Jamesgeo.com has an image showing the towns that have some type of element in their names as you can see here:

Considering the amount of mining that has and is currently done in Colorado, it only seems fitting to have such names like this in our state!Silver, gold ,lead, copper, iron are just a few that are named in the towns. Pretty cool if you ask me!
