Only a few days after Colorado State University got rid of their athletic director, the school has made a major decision in that very department. Three CSU coaches, including football head football coach Jim McElwain, had new contracts announced today (August 11).

McElwain has signed a contract extension that will have him locked up in Fort Collins (in theory) through, at least, the 2018 season. He will also go from making $1.35 million a year to $1.5 million, with $150,000 in bonuses built in if the Rams have a passing Academic Progress Rate score and no major NCAA violations are committed.

The new contract also helps CSU keep McElwain from leaving the contract early for another school. Should McElwain choose to leave CSU before 2018, he'd have to pay the university at least $7.5 million.

CSU volleyball coach Tom Hilbert and women's basketball's Ryun Williams also received contract extensions.
