A three-alarm fire burned a two story apartment building in Fort Collins early Wednesday morning. According to Poudre Fire Authority, severe water, smoke, and fire damage was burned 6 units at the Brookview Apartments at 1701 Welch Street.

24 residents were displaced by the blaze. The American Red Cross will be providing short term shelter, food, and clothing needs for the 13 people who lost their home long term and 11 who are homeless short term.

One person reported a minor injury and was later treated at an urgent care facility. Two firefighters reported minor injuries. One uninjured dog was rescued and is currently being cared for by the Larimer Humane Society.

The roof of the complex collapsed 20 minutes into the operation. Investigators are working to determine an origin and cause.
