If you own a pet, you can probably relate to a time when you were feeling down, and your animal stayed right by your side to help comfort you. Pets are pretty special in the fact that they can sense when humans are sad, and are able to act as support in times of need. Cubby the Comfort Dog from Fort Collins, has a very important job this week, of bringing some peace and joy to those suffering in the wake of the recent school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas.

Cubby, a three-year-old Golden Retriever, is part of the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog program and normally works at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Collins. She regularly visits people at churches, schools, nursing homes, hospitals, events, and in disaster response situations. In February, Cubby visited Parkland, Florida where she spent time with students after the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting and this week, she's unfortunately having to do the same for those in Texas.

You can keep up with Cubby via @cubbycomfortdog on Facebook and Instagram.
