Perhaps it is the heat driving people to do crazy, weird, and odd things...or maybe it's just them. Either way, check out the Greeley-Evans Crime Log for construction, bologna, and a pipe.

As the Greeley Tribune reported, here is the dispatch log for June 9 through June 13.

Tuesday, June 9

2 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 200 block of 30th Avenue for a harassment report. When officers arrived at the scene, they asked the caller why he believed a neighbor had committed the crime of harassment. “He’s a lying, thieving, kleptomaniac who keeps calling the cops on me,” the caller said.

7:45 p.m.: Evans police responded to a playground on Milan Street for a report of two teenage boys playing with a girl’s bicycle.

Wednesday, June 10

4 p.m.: Greeley police responded to a fast food restaurant at 11th Avenue and 26th Street for a report of a “fully intoxicated” woman. Police contacted the woman’s husband who responded to the scene and told officers their daughter had just gotten married. Something happened during the ceremony that made the woman want “to go get drunk,” the husband said.

6 p.m.: A Greeley resident called dispatch to confirm that animal control officers would be able to feed a resident’s cat in the 5200 block of 11th Street while the owner was in the hospital. Animal control officers were never contacted by the owner, nor do they make house calls to feed pets.

6 p.m.: Evans police responded to Santa Fe Avenue for a report of a man who had just killed a prairie dog with a stick that had a nail hammered through it. The man told police to come pick up the prairie dog, as he had just made a doctor’s appointment to make sure he hadn’t contracted the plague from the animal. The man was told to just bury the prairie dog.

7:45 p.m.: A Greeley resident living in the 2500 block of 7th Street called dispatch to see if an animal control officer would respond to clean up an injured squirrel that fell off her roof so that “she wouldn’t have to.”

Thursday, June 11

9:30 and 9:45 a.m.: Two Greeley residents called about suspicious construction activity on O Street and 35th Avenue. One caller was convinced oil field workers were pretending to be construction workers and was very upset she had to go through dispatchers to get a hold of Greeley police. Officers checked into it and were able to confirm the construction workers were legit and had proper permits.

10:15 a.m.: Greeley police responded to a park in the 4800 block of 9th Street Road for a report of a man trapped in a port-o-potty.

Friday, June 12

1:15 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 200 block of 35th Avenue for a report of a truck that had been vandalized by two girls armed with bologna and mustard.

6:45 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the Weld County Assessor’s Office for a report of a parked Plymouth Voyager that might have fake license plate tags. The caller told dispatchers there was a handwritten temporary tag taped to the rear window with an issue date of 2016.

7:30 a.m.: Greeley police responded to Cranford Place and 12th Avenue for a report of a man wearing a dark blue tank top and jean shorts acting “high” and ringing people’s doorbells asking to use the bathroom and to hang out with him on their porches.

7:15 p.m.: Evans police responded to the 3200 block of 23rd Avenue for a suspicious vehicle report. The vehicle turned out to be a Greeley police unmarked unit occupied by an officer conducting an undercover investigation.

7:45 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 1000 block of 15th Street for a report of a 19-year-old woman who hit a man with a pipe and stole his “herb.” The woman could be heard in the background saying she hit the man because he tried to choke her. The woman made a peace offering by returning one bud of marijuana to the man. All was forgiven.

Saturday, June 13

12:45 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 1100 block of 7th Avenue for a report of an intoxicated woman knocking on random doors. The caller told dispatchers the woman said she was looking for her shoe before she collapsed and passed out on the caller’s porch next to her front door.
