Does your hound like to swim? Does your pooch smell like wet dog when they get out of the lake or river? Why not take them to a city swimming pool instead!

For some unknown reason, my dog Maya has never been real fond of the water. I wish she was a swimmer because I would be first in line for this fun dog event. Many pools, before shutting down for the Fall/Winter, will have a day when dogs can go and have fun in the pool.

The City of Greeley is no different and they will be opening Discovery Bay for one day so you can bring your 4-legged friends for a nice refreshing dip in some clean water. Sure, they will still smell like wet dogs but it's not often you get to bring you canine companion to a city swimming pool.

The 'Doggie Day' will be held on Saturday, August 22 at the Discovery Bay Waterpark (715 E. 24th Street) in Greeley. There will be two different swim sessions depending on weight:

  • 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for dogs that are under 51 pounds
  • 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for dogs that are over 51 pounds

Tickets are on sale now for only $5 through Friday, August 21 at the Family FunPlex located at 1501 65th Avenue or the Greeley Rec Center located at 651 10th Avenue. Price goes up to $8 on the day of the event. Ticket price gets one dog and two humans into the pool. Space is limited though to 100 participants per session.
