If You See a Dog in a Hot Car in Colorado, Can You Break In?
Ever wonder what you should do if you see a dog left in a hot car? This video shows you what steps to take, including when it's OK -- and legal -- to bust a window.
You know it's wrong, I know it's wrong and Kyle Clark knows it's wrong, but people still leave their dogs in their cars during the summer. Even with the windows cracked, the lack of ventilation can be dangerous to your four-legged friend.
So, if you see a dog left in a car this summer, Dodo Impact explains the five steps you should take -- last resort being to break the car's window. I didn't know this, but breaking a window is actually legal in Colorado and a handful of other states (not legal in Wyoming).
However, this is not necessarily encouraged unless it's a life-threatening situation; don't go around bashing in car windows every time you see a dog. The broken glass and potential confrontation with the owner... always best left to trained authorities, right?
