Man Found Dead in Fort Collins Apartment Fire on Saturday

Poudre Fire Authority firefighters responded to a cooking fire at a Fort Collins apartment on Saturday. A man was found dead at the scene.

The fire was reported at 12:59 on Saturday afternoon at the Whispering Pines Apartments at 525 E. Drake Road.

The PFA crew found active fire on the stove; it was extinguished with a pressurized, handheld extinguisher. A male was also found and confirmed to be deceased.

The Larimer County Coroner's Office will release the man's identity, as well as his cause and manner of death, pending notification of next of kin.

The origin and cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
