Menorah Lightings in Northern Colorado, “After” Christmas This Year
There are many places to enjoy the lighting of a Menorah in Northern Colorado. Hanukkah is later than usual this year, therefore all the Menorah events happen after Christmas. Also, this year Estes Park has been added to the list of cities that celebrate.
The lighting of the Menorah signifies the Jews attempting to re-dedicate and purify the temple, there was one small jug of oil, only enough to burn for one night. The miracle of Hanukkah is that the oil lasted 8 nights! Every year it is customary to commemorate the miracle of the Hanukkah oil by lighting candles on a menorah. The Hanukkah menorah is lit every night for eight nights.
