Travelers will be able to get to Estes Park from Loveland via US 34 in the Big Thompson Canyon for a limited time this month.

While repairs from the 2013 flood in the Big Thompson Canyon have left US 34 closed for most of the year, CDOT says all holiday travelers will be able to use it to get to Estes park, from 4 p.m. on Friday, December 22 to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 2.

CDOT says to expect delays from increased holiday traffic, and note that in many areas, only one lane may be open, led by a pilot car. US 36 and CO 66 detour can also be used to get to Estes Park. More information is available here.

Good luck, and travel safely!
