Northern Colorado High Speed Chase Results in Two in Custody

Reminiscent of something you would see in a movie, a man and a woman were arrested on Saturday (March 5, 2016) morning, after a high-speed chase with Fort Collins police. According to the Coloradoan, Gilbert and Jessica Lynn Padilla were arrested after leading authorities on a chase that started in Fort Collins, headed toward Greeley, and ended in the Loveland area. The suspects were pulled over originally, when leaving the Econo Lodge on East Mulberry Street in Fort Collins, around 1:10 a.m. Saturday morning. The officer pulled the suspects over for having fictitious plates, and that's when things got interesting.

When the officer asked the female driver to get out of the car, she drove off, crossing the median, and headed south on I-25. Ranging from speeds from 7, to 95 miles per hour, the driver lead authorities on a chase down I-25, east on U.S. Highway 34, and back west toward Loveland. While the chase was happening, the suspects were seen throwing things from the vehicle. These items were later recovered, and believed to be narcotics.

The suspects were eventually stopped and taken into custody, by deploying tire deflation devices, and "precision immobilization techniques." The chase ended in the parking lot of Barnes and Noble, located at the Promenade Shops at Centerra.
