A Poudre Valley Hospital Ambulance was stolen on Sunday (November 2), at 2:14 a.m. after EMS responded to someone having a medial emergency on the Colorado State University Campus. When the EMTs exited the Academic Village, located at 816 Pitkin Street with the patient, their ambulance was missing. Shortly after the ambulance was reported stolen to dispatchers, it was located using the on-board GPS tracking system. Its location was reported to several agencies, including Loveland police leading to an eventual stop on U.S. Highway 34 near Boyd Lake Road.

When Loveland police approached the rig, 18-year-old, CSU student Stefan Borland was standing outside the ambulance wearing a PVH EMT safety vest with an armful of items. Borland would not comply with the officers commands while walking towards police, prompting them to subdue him with a stun gun.

The ambulance was damaged with evidence of it hitting barrels as well as a street sign. In a police statement, Borland was said to be rambling about topics that were not relevant to the incident at hand. Authorities discovered a pill labeled Adderall, a schedule II controlled substance that Borland does not have a prescription for. The suspect also confessed to breaking out a window of a Nissan sedan that he attempted to steal before he found the ambulance.

According to the Coloradoan, bond was set on Monday (November 3) for $15,000 with Borland still in Larimer County jail with him due in court this Friday (November 7).
