They say, ‘If you hear thunder you are close enough to be struck by lightning.’ We’re guessing that I-80 REALLY heard some thunder, as a bolt shot straight down onto its asphalt! Take a look!

Out on a lonesome stretch of interstate I-80 in Wyoming on July 27, 2017, at around 9:00 pm, a storm passed overhead. Crack! The sky lights up, and BAM! A lighting strike comes right down in the middle of the road!

It’s rare that a lightning strike is captured so clearly, so close. The strike was captured by a highway monitoring camera. Imagine if a vehicle had been in that spot? Would the lightning have hit it? Or, (because a vehicle WAS there) would it not strike at all? The mysteries of nature.
