The Weld County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating multiple home burglaries that began around January 1 north of Kersey, to include Gill, Galeton, Briggsdale, and Herford.

Most burglaries being investigated have had a similar method of operation: they occurred in daylight hours, most houses were unlocked, and the target appears to be firearms and jewelry.

WCSO urges residents to ensure that all doors and windows to their homes are locked while they are away, even if they had no reason to do this in the past, and that all valuables are kept in a safe, secure location that is not in plain view. Firearms should be stored in a gun safe - not left unsecured when residents aren't at home.

Please report any suspicious vehicles or persons in your area to the non-emergency reporting number 970-356-4015, Option 1.

If you have any information regarding these or any crimes, please call the Weld County Sheriff's Office or Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-444-3776. Tips can also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers website.

Tips submitted through Crime Stoppers that lead to the arrest and filing of charges on a suspect(s) may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000 from Crime Stoppers.
