Cheap Trick‘s Rick Nielsen isn’t ready to be relegated to relic status just yet. Still, fans will be happy to know that the man, his legendary band — and yes, all those guitars — are the subject of a special exhibit at the Burpee Museum Of Natural History, located in the band’s hometown of Rockford, Ill.

When you’re a headliner, you’re awarded certain privileges. When you’re playing your hometown, you probably even get more favorable treatment. And if you’re a band as big as Aerosmith and your opening act is the equally impressive Cheap Trick, you’ve got to take advantage of the situation to guest on a classic song.

Aerosmith and Cheap Trick have just announced their 2012 summer tour dates, labeling their sizzling pair-up the ‘Global Warming Tour.’ After a successful tour in South America and Japan, Boston’s finest, along with the pride of Rockford, Ill., will return to the USA and kick things off in Minneapolis, Minn. on June 16.
