The juvenile suspect who left the scene after being involved in a shooting early Saturday morning in Fort Collins is now in custody.

Following the shooting, which occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, local law enforcement sent out warnings advising residents in the areas nearby South Overland to lock their doors, as the suspect was still at large and likely armed. The investigation remained on-going throughout the day, although police later sent out an update saying that it was alright for residents to return to business as usual.

At approximately 8:15 p.m. on August 27, the juvenile suspect wanted for shooting his brother contacted the lead investigator and offered to surrender himself to authorities. The 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody without incident and is being held on allegations of First Degree Assault, though this charge is merely an allegation until proven guilty.
