A little over two years after the Beatles‘ classic albums finally arrived in the iTunes store, another of the band’s classic works is arriving in Apple’s digital emporium. But this time, fans can look forward to an a more interactive offering from the Fab Four.

The Beatles’ animated feature ‘Yellow Submarine’ has been turned into a digital book, and it’s now available for free download from the Apple iBooks store — so if you have an iDevice, you’re just a click away from reliving John, Paul, George, and Ringo‘s adventures in Pepperland (and their battles with the infamous Blue Meanies, one of which is pictured above!)

Like other iBooks conversions of preexisting titles, ‘Yellow Submarine’ is more of a multimedia experience than your average book, with animation and music mixed into the text along with clips from the film. Throughout the book, tapping on certain graphics will trigger actions; readers can also choose to read the text themselves, or have it read to them by narrator Dean Lennox Kelly.

Although the iBooks version of ‘Yellow Submarine’ doesn’t offer the complete story told in the film, it’s hard to complain about the price, and it — along with Rolling Stone’s recently released Beatles app — offers a tantalizing glimpse of what the future might hold for fans of the band.
