Besides serving up savory beverages to thirsty patrons at seven different locations around northern Colorado, The Human Bean does a whole lot more for the community by giving back and supporting organizations that help to make life better for others. In the past, the locally-owned coffee shop has held blood drives and book donations, and this Thursday, the franchise invites the public to once again be a part of coffee for a cause, as 10 percent of all sales generated at the College Avenue location will be donated to an orphanage in Haiti.

Happening from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on June 9, this philanthropic Guest Barista Day is the brainchild of Human Bean manager, Kaitlin Keyes, who recently traveled to Desire, Haiti to visit the orphanage that the donations will be benefiting. While on her trip, Keyes was able to personally meet and build a relationship with Nimrode, a 14-year-old girl living at the orphanage, who is currently being sponsored by The Human Bean. The sponsorship is able to provide Nimrode with basic necessities such as education, hygiene needs, medical care, food to eat, and shelter.

In addition to supporting the Haitian orphanage monetarily, The Human Bean is asking customers to donate other supplies during their June 9 visit, including medical and toiletry items like soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, mini first-aid kits, and Band-Aids. Those who donate these types of items will receive double punches on their loyalty cards.

The upcoming fundraiser will be taking place at 1822 S. College Avenue in Fort Collins. If you aren't able to stop by, don't stress, because the same Guest Barista Day will be happening again on Thursday, June 23 at the Evans location, found at 3310 23rd Avenue.
