This year's Greeley Stampede was one of the best ever. I had some amazing experiences in 2018. I thoroughly enjoyed Dustin Lynch, Darius Rucker and Aaron Watson in concert. I loved Brandon Lay, Sundance Head, and Travis Denning on the Extraction Park Stage, not to mention Sawyer Brown and Diamond Rio. I always love the parade, the rodeos, and the wonderful food. However, I had the opportunity to do have a few very special moments at this year's event. These are my 5 favorite:

5. Throwing an ax at Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show

This was actually the 1st thing I did at the Stampede this year. It happened during media day. We were getting a demonstration from the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show and they asked for volunteers. I raised my hand. They handed me an ax and I attempted to throw it at a target. What happened next was very unexpected.

4. Meeting Korean War Vets at 4th of July Parade

You never know when you might meet someone that affects you in a much deeper way than you ever expected. In the 4th of July Parade, the K99 entry was staged right behind the Boy Scouts with their giant flag and right in front of the Korean War Veterans. I spent about half an hour talking to two of these gentlemen who served our country so well. I am very grateful for their service and I am a better person because I had the opportunity to meet them.

3. Riding with Grand Marshals in Parade in the Park

Being associated with the Greeley Stampede for the past 30 years, I have met some life-long friends. Among those friends is this year's Grand Marshals, Rob and Anita Reeve. One night they asked my wife and me to join them in their carriage for the daily Parade in the Park. Then we joined them for dinner. What a treat. There are not two better people on the face of the Earth.

2. Taking K99 Listeners on Dustin Lynch's Bus

Thanks to Red Bow Records we got to give a K99 listener the chance of a lifetime. We got to go on Dustin Lynch's bus before his show and then he sang a couple songs for us. It was the 1st concert ever for the little guy who won and a moment I will never forget.

1. Giving Away Customized Truck to a Veteran

Some things in life, I am just blessed to be a part of. For the last couple of years, K99 has been a small par of Operation Veteran Valor. On Tuesday night we gave a customized truck to a very deserving veteran. It was definitely the highlight for me for the 2018 Greeley Stampede.
