Colorado roadways have seen their share of traffic fatalities in the recent past and Thursday afternoon adds another to the growing list. An accident north of Fort Collins leaves one dead.

The Coloradoan reports that a single-vehicle rollover accident north of Fort Collins on I-25 has claimed a life.

Emergency personnel responded to the crash around noon Thursday at mile marker 295, that is about 20 miles north of Fort Collins.

A beige SUV with Nebraska plates rolled several times before coming to a stop. Northbound lanes were temporarily closed just past the Carr exit.

Several passengers were involved in the accident and were transported from the scene.

The person who died was thrown from the vehicle.

Investigators will continue to look into the cause of the accident. No names or details about the passengers have yet been released.

So far, 2015 is leading that past three years in traffic fatalities statewide. During the same time in 2013 there were 32 traffic fatalities, in 2014 there were 26 and Thursday's traffic fatality brings the 2015 total so far to 34.
