In the wake of Phil Robertson's comments about gays and race relations, many fans of Duck Dynasty are left asking themselves whether or not the TV show will continue. While the controversy might have thrown a hitch in their plans with A&E, I don't think there is anything to worry about.

Surprisingly our recent poll asking fans of the show to vote for whether or not they thought it would continue currently shows that 70% of people are answering no. While the show might be over on A&E, I don't think it is done on TV. In all reality A&E is probably the biggest loser in this whole debacle. Their facebook page is littered with nasty comments almost overwhelmingly supporting Phil Robertson.

You might remember that back in 2003, Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks made the following comment about president Bush that most fans still haven't forgiven the trio for over ten years later:

Just so you know, we’re on the good side with y’all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas.”

While Phil Robertson's comments may have been even more controversial than this, there is one main difference. When Maines' comment about president Bush spread far and wide, it immediately alienated an overwhelming portion of the Dixie Chicks' fan base who did not share the same sentiment towards the president. They betrayed their fans core values and beliefs, which was catastrophic for the future of their career.

In the case of Duck Dynasty though, there seems to be much more hatred for A&E's actions than Phil's comments. Don't get me wrong, there are without a doubt fans of Duck Dynasty who are upset by what was said and the show has lost those fans forever. Unlike the Dixie Chicks controversy though, Phil's comments reinforced the core values of many of their fans and Duck Dynasty gained even more respect in their eyes because of that.

Therefore the show still has a very devoted following despite the comments. Where there is such a huge fan base, there is money to be made by someone. While it probably won't be A&E, someone will snatch up the Duck Dynasty crew in heartbeat because of this. I don't think the show is going anywhere unless the Robertson family themselves were to make the decision to hang it up for good. Do you agree?
