Why I Keep Harping on Food and Health Subjects-Paul’s Periscopes [VIDEO]

Yesterday, I had a moment of clarity.

I clarified my goals in talking about health subjects on the air. I’ve been talking about it since the beginning of our big breast cancer awareness month push. Then, October ended, but I didn’t want to stop talking about it.

It’s not typical radio material, especially for a morning host on a music station. You might expect me to be a bit more…wacky.

That’s not what I’m into. I am into health subjects. However, though it is my show and it at least partially about me, it isn’t all about me. I need to consider each subject I talk about. I need to continue to talk about things that serve my audience.

So, I put this subject, and my desire to talk about it through the ‘should I talk about this on my show’ filter.

It helped me realize why I want to talk about it.

I mentioned smoking cigarettes as my example. I’m not going to use air time to try to get you to quit smoking.

At this point, you should know smoking is bad for you. There aren’t many reasons why you wouldn’t be aware of this fact. If you are doing it anyway, I don’t care at all to try to persuade you to stop. It’s your choice.

In fact, in posting this type of content, I do not want to persuade anyone to do anything. The reason I bring it up at all is because I believe that many people don’t know that they may be using, consuming and otherwise surrounding themselves with products that are bad for them.

You should know smoking is bad for you. However, you might not know the birth control pill, orange juice, and yogurt can be really bad for you. You might not know the makeup you put on can be really bad for you.

The fact that you might not know these things is my driving motivation for creating this type of content.

We are surrounding ourselves with too many toxic things. The good news is that most of them are identified, and you don’t even have to take my word for it. The information is out there for you to find, read, and know.

The other good news is that for every dangerous chemical substance or food, there is another that is healthy to use as a replacement. And if there isn’t we can get them (them being people who sell us stuff) to make it available to us.

Believe me, once they see that we’ll spend money on it, it will become more available.

So, that is, in a nutshell, why I keep soapboxing about what we are eating and doing, and how it may be leading us to a life of less than optimal health.
