A Winter storm Warning is in effect until 6 o'clock tonight.

4 to 8 inches of snow is expected along the Front Range.

Poor travel conditions are expected on the eastern plains due to blowing and drifting snow. Wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour are possible.

According to the National Weather Service:

A POTENT WINTER STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO EAST CENTRAL COLORADO BY LATER THIS MORNING. HEAVY SNOW HAS DEVELOPED ALONG THE FRONT RANGE FOOTHILLS AND ADJACENT PLAINS EARLY THIS MORNING. SNOWFALL RATES OF 2 TO 3 INCHES PER HOUR WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH THE HEAVIEST SNOW THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS. STRONG WINDS AND SNOW WILL THEN DEVELOP AND SPREAD OVER THE NORTHEAST COLORADO PLAINS THIS MORNING. POOR TRAVEL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED ON THE PLAINS DUE TO THE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. ROAD CLOSURES MAY BE POSSIBLE.
