A month ago, my wife and I came across the Netflix series "Departures", which follows two best friends who take off work for an entire year and travel the globe. Their travels take them to Cambodia, India, the Cook Islands, and more faraway lands that most of us can only imagine visiting.

Never seen a preview of the show? Check this clip of when they traveled to North Korea for one of their stops.

The show follows both the positives and the negatives of their travels. Can you imagine being stuck on an isolated island with barely any ability to tap into your own money? That happened to both Justin and Scott when they visited the Ascension Islands and essentially had to live off of pasta for an entire week.

Watching this show has made me think about if I would ever have the guts to take off an entire year. And if I did, what countries would I want to visit?

Some of these countries have already been featured on departures, and what I saw on there has made me put it on this list. So here are the three countries I would visit for 30 straight days if I had the chance.

1.) ITALY

I have a little bit of Italian descent in me, and would love to have the chance to take in the country and everything it has to offer. I know the first thing you think of when you think Italian is "pizza", but there is so much more and I think you would need an entire month to cover it.

2.) COOK ISLANDS

The Cook Islands were featured on Departures: Season One and is located in the South Pacific near New Zealand. The scenery is beautiful and the fishing is plentiful. For 30 days to kick back and relax, you can't go wrong with the Cook Islands.

3.) CANADA

So I've been to Canada before, but I've never experienced Canada. I've made stops in the province of Quebec, but that was time spent in the bigger cities so I didn't experience what the country is all about. I don't think you've experienced Canada until you've hit each province because each one is that much different from the other. The picture above is from the Yukon Territory near Alaska. Wouldn't it be an experience just to see this?

Think about it. If you had a year to take off from work, do you think you could travel the world for 365 days? If so, where would you visit?
