A fire burned a boat on Horsetooth Reservoir over the weekend. Poudre Fire Authority firefighters responded to the blaze just before noon on Sunday.

Three people were aboard the 16-foot, 1997 Watercraft boat. They had just put the boat in the water for the first time this season and were enroute from the marina. Motoring out slowly, they reported hearing a pop in the engine compartment. One of the people grabbed an extinguisher, but it was not enough to put out the fire. Another boat came alongside, and the three Watercraft occupants evacuated onto the other boat.

A Larimer County Department of Natural Resources ranger boat towed the burning boat to shore, where firefighters put the fire out with hoses.

The boat was determined to be a total loss. One person out of the three on board reported suffering from light smoke inhalation.
