When your bank account says 'stay-cation' rather than 'vacation,' these five places are Coloradan-approved getaways in our own backyard. We asked for your favorite places to go in Colorado during the summer, and you gave us some great recommendations.

 Grand Lake

While it may be the 'Snowmobiling Capital of Colorado,' in the summer, you can hike, bike, boat and fish at Grand Lake, and it is less than three hours from Loveland.

Estes Park

We all love Estes because we can 'get away' without having to go that far. Whether you stay in an Airbnb or the YMCA, you can usually find affordable accommodations, or just make it a day trip.

 Red Rocks

Make a Red Rocks show a full-on getaway when you stay in the fancy new hotel just down the road. See a show under the stars, and then wake up and go for a hike or a mountain bike trip.

Buena Vista

Buena Vista offers zipling, Jeep tours and even a music festival, thanks to Dierks Bentley.

 Holiday Twin Drive-In

OK, while it's not really a destination, it is a great place to spend a warm summer night outside. Did you know that Holiday Twin is one of the only drive-in movie theaters left in Colorado? So, we're pretty fortunate to have it just minutes away. Pack up your car full of friends and blankets and order up some snacks and make a relaxing night out of it.
