As the Foothills Mall gets closer to completion, the city of Fort Collins and the Colorado Department of Transportation are doing what they can to make the mall accessible to public transportation. According to the Coloradoan, a pedestrian underpass, that will allow people to pass under busy College Avenue, will hopefully be complete by October. The walkway will provide a path for pedestrians to access the MAX bus system, without having to cross traffic. The project, that is coming in at $2.3 million, is getting the majority of its funding from the Foothills Mall Metropolitan District. However, about $450,000 of that is being provided by CDOT and the city of Fort Collins when the project cost came in higher than the expected budget.
