Two of the country's best 100 hospitals reside in Northern Colorado according to an annual IBM Watson Health list released on Monday.

Fort Collins' UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital made the list under the country's best teaching hospitals. Loveland's UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies made the list under the country's best medium community hospitals.

To determine the rankings, several factors are considered including survival rates, complications and infections, length of stay, emergency department wait times, inpatient expenses, profit margins and patient satisfaction scores.

Both PVH and Medical Center of the Rockies have made the list before. PVH has been recognized by the study 13 times since 1993. Medical Center of the Rockies is on the list for the third time. Both hospitals were also featured in the Healthgrades top 100 hospitals of 2019 list released last month.

Northern Colorado wasn't alone on the 2019 top 100 list. UCHealth's University of Colorado Hospital of Aurora made the list for major teaching hospitals, and Denver's Rose Medical Center and Lone Tree's Sky Ridge Medical Center also made the list under teaching hospitals.
