This past Saturday, May 4, the Fort Collins Police and the Northern Colorado Traffic Safety Task Force hosted a DUI Sobriety Checkpoint.

According to a City of Fort Collins press release, members of Fort Collins Police Services, Colorado State Patrol, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, Loveland Police Department, Colorado State University Police Department, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and UC Health participated in the event.

Saturday's DUI Sobriety Checkpoint started at 9:49 p.m. and ended 2:30 a.m. Sunday, May 5th.

Out of the 1,231 vehicles stopped there were 10 arrests for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driving While Ability Impaired (DWAI).

According to the City of Fort Collins press release, FCPS Chief Jeff Swoboda stated, "Not only do they remove dangerous drivers from the road and prevent potentially deadly crashes, these events also give officers a chance to provide responsible drivers with information about roadway safety."
