In a proactive effort to prevent the spread of the West Nile Virus, the City of Greeley is planning to spray twice this week. According to an official press release, the city's mosquito program is set up in a way that they do not wait for the West Nile index to rise to a dangerous threshold, but rather to be proactive with full operations being implemented since June first.

The area that is getting sprayed is still yet to be determined, as trapping is set to occur Monday night, with spraying in targeted "hot spots' occurring Tuesday night. Traditionally, the city would only spray one night, but with the increasing levels of infected mosquitoes, the city of Greeley is adding an additional night of spraying this week, Thursday, August 18.
