9 News is reporting that the all ages drag show at Mile High Comics in Denver had it's highest turn out ever on Sunday, but not without controversy.

A volunteer group who calls themselves the Parasol Patrol have stepped in to do security amid protests from community residents. They are a group of LGBTQIA+ volunteers who hold umbrellas up to shield the drag kids and parents from the signs as they enter and leave the comic book store. They also give the kids ear protection so they can't hear the protesters opinions.

Vinnie, a protester who didn't want to use his last name said this to 9 News:

"They're trying to make this a political thing, but it's not a political thing. It's just about the kids, putting them onstage. If this was straight people doing this, we'd be just as much resistance to it."
