It's not entirely out of the norm for homeowners to come across a critter who's made itself at home in the basement – but for one Breckenridge family, it was an incredibly different story.

Last Friday morning began with a call to police, after a child thought they heard someone breaking into the basement window of his Breckenridge home. As police arrived on scene however, they were very surprised by what had actually entered through the glass. Holed up in the corner of the room, was an adult cow moose, that CPW believes fell into the window well while walking through deep snow.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife had to tranquilize the moose to get it up the stairs, but reversed the tranquilizer once outside and loaded into their trailer. CPW relocated the massive creature to a much better suited habitat, in Grand County.
