If you have always been a fan of Sears and have missed it since it closed in the old Foothills Mall, you'll be able to shop in it again soon.

According to the Coloradoan, the national department store will be reopening in a smaller space at Foothills on May 20th. The store will be comprised of 10,000 square feet and will be located on the southwest corner of the property.

Sears has been part of Foothills since it was formally known as the "Foothills Fashion Mall" starting back in 1973. The new layout falls in line with the smaller concepts that the company is looking to trend back to in many areas.

They have been closed in Fort Collins since October, 2014 and received a commitment from the mall's owner, Alberta Development Partners, that a new space would be constructed if they left their tenant position occupied in the previous incarnation of the mall.

The new Sears will be located near the new location of Sports Authority, but that store opening is now in doubt with the company going to auction in mid May. The possibility remains that the sporting goods retailer may never open in Foothills, even with the brand new space which will be an upgrade from their downtown location.
