Baseball fans are itching for the season to start back up, and being just about a month out from Opening Day, teams are still making some last minute changes and adjustments to their rosters.

During the offseason, the Rockies made a couple of moves, including saying goodbye to Gerardo Parra and DJ LeMahieu, as well as welcoming back former first baseman, Mark Reynolds. Rockies fans also breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that their all-star third baseman, Nolan Arenado, had agreed to a one-year deal back in January to avoid arbitration. Throughout the off months, rumors were swirling about Arenado possibly leaving the team, and while the one-year extension had people excited, it's even better news to hear that on February 26, he and the Rockies finalized an eight-year contract, worth more than $255 million. According to ESPN, this deal gives Arenado the largest per-year salary of any position player and the biggest contract in franchise history.  The deal includes an opt-out after three years, allowing him to hit free agency at 30-years-old, plus a full no-trade clause. It replaces the former one-year deal he had agreed to last month.

In addition to the deal with Arenado, the Rockies also agreed to terms with their manager, Bud Black, with a three-year contract extension through the 2022 season. During his two seasons with the Rockies, the respected skipper has the best winning percentage among Rockies managers in franchise history, and was also nominated as a National League Manager of the Year finalist.
