A 29-year-old man was arrested Thursday on charges of murdering an elderly Longmont man, according to a City of Longmont Public Safety press release.

Suspect Isaiah Ismael Rios has been charged with murder, burglary and auto theft. He also faces charges in additional burglary incidents.

Rios was arrested by a SWAT team around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

The incident began earlier Thursday when a woman returned home and couldn't immediately locate her 80-year-old husband. She called police after observing blood on the carpet of their home on the 2200 block of Jewel Street.

Responding officers later found the deceased man in the house. The couple's pickup truck was also missing.

Authorities later located the pickup-truck at a Longmont storage facility. Rios had brought the vehicle to the location and was later arrested without incident.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law. An arrest is merely and accusation of a crime by law enforcement.
