Expect some delays on Highway 14 in the very near future. Improvements to eastbound Colorado Highway 14 (Mulberry St.) between Timberline Road and Summit View Drive will begin on April 30 which will force traffic to be diverted onto the frontage road, on the south side of E. Mulberry for approximately 10 days.

The work is expected to be completed by May 11. Work will take place at night as well as during the day. Daytime hours will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and nighttime hours will be from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

This portion of the project will include removal of existing roadway and subgrade, re-building with 6 inches of aggregate base course and four asphalt lifts, for a total of 9 inches of hot mix asphalt. This work is necessary due to failing subgrade and failing asphalt pavement.

Upon completion of this portion of the project, travelers can expect a smoother driving surface that will add longevity to the roadway. Following the completion of this work on the eastbound lanes of E. Mulberry S. an asphalt overlay will be applied to the frontage road between S. Timberline Rd. & S. Summit View Dr. on the south side E. Mulberry.

Removal and replacement of curb and gutter will continue on E. Mulberry St. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Intermittent lane closures can be expected. It is estimated that curb and gutter work will be completed mid to late May. Access will be maintained at all times to businesses and residents on along E. Mulberry.
