A Weld County man pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on Friday in a Greeley courthouse, according to a press release from the District Attorney's Office.

Sammy Vega faces 16 to 30 years in jail for the charge. He'll be sentenced at 10 a.m. on April 29.

Investigators accused Vega of shooting his cousins Emmanuel Baca and Isael Baca, in rural Weld County south of Keenesburg near Interstate 76 on December 16, 2017.

Isael survived the shooting but Emmanuel died from his gunshot wounds. Vega was initially arrested on the murder charges on Dec. 21, 2017.
